Streszczenie:
Internet to wielki osiągnięcie, ale niesie zagrożenia jak FOMO, cyberprzemoc i uzależnienie od gier. Edukacja i odpowiedzialność są kluczowe. ??
The internet, one of the greatest technological achievements of our time, offers countless benefits while simultaneously becoming a significant source of threats. Contemporary literature and scientific research highlight dangers such as FOMO (Fear of Missing Out), cyberbullying, and gaming addiction. These issues cast a shadow over the lives of many people, especially the youth.
The first threat, FOMO, relates to the fear of being excluded from social activities or events. This term gained popularity alongside the rise of social media platforms, which allow users to track others' lives with unprecedented ease. Books like "Digital Minimalism" by Cal Newport encapsulate this phenomenon, using examples of young individuals who feel pressured to stay constantly updated. This constant need to check updates and messages can lead to increased levels of stress and anxiety. The imbalance between online and offline life results in situations where individuals neglect their relationships and daily responsibilities in favor of the virtual illusion of being everywhere with everyone.
The second serious threat is cyberbullying, which involves harassment over the internet. This issue has become more prevalent with the advent of social media, where anonymity can encourage aggressive behavior. Literature such as "Hate List" by Jennifer Brown and "13 Reasons Why" by Jay Asher sheds light on the real consequences of this type of violence. Victims of cyberbullying often experience decreased self-esteem, depression, and, in extreme cases, may even attempt suicide. The anonymity and ability to reach a broad audience make these attacks more painful and harder to ignore than traditional forms of bullying.
The third alarming issue related to the internet is gaming addiction. As gaming technology advances, games become increasingly engaging, offering spectacular worlds and immersive experiences. This problem is thoroughly described in publications like "Czas na detoks" by Marco Dettlinger. Gaming addiction leads to the neglect of responsibilities and social relationships, as well as physical health. Research shows that addicted individuals spend enormous amounts of time and money on this form of entertainment, which in the long run leads to social isolation, lack of physical activity, and issues related to violating social and familial norms.
Literature, based on real events and scientific research, reveals the authentic faces of these threats affecting young people. Books and studies on FOMO, cyberbullying, and gaming addiction are essential sources of knowledge that help us understand how new technologies affect daily life and mental health. Preventing these phenomena requires a conscious approach to technology use and education about managing online time.
In response to these threats, some countries are implementing educational programs that teach young people how to cope with social pressure online and recognize addiction symptoms. Furthermore, more authors are addressing the topic of healthy internet use and modern technologies, promoting concepts of digital minimalism and self-control. Literature shows that effective strategies can help mitigate the negative effects of internet usage. However, awareness from both users and their guardians is crucial, as these technologies, while helpful, demand responsible usage and mindful management of time and engagement.
In conclusion, although the internet is a marvelous innovation, it also serves as a source of numerous threats, which literature adeptly describes and analyzes. FOMO, cyberbullying, and gaming addiction are just a few of the issues contemporary society must face. Education, awareness, and responsibility can help reduce their negative impact on individuals' lives. The development of technology brings new challenges that we must learn to overcome to fully reap the benefits of the digital era.
