While the internet offers many good things, it also has its dangers. These include FOMO (Fear of Missing Out), cyberbullying, and game addiction. These problems can seriously affect a young person's mind and feelings.
FOMO stands for Fear of Missing Out. It's when you feel that other people are having more fun or living better than you. Social media like Facebook, Instagram, and Snapchat make this feeling worse. Teens see photos and updates of friends going to parties, traveling, or enjoying activities without them. This can make them feel anxious or left out. For instance, if Anna sees her friends' pictures from a party she wasn't invited to, she might feel bad about herself and worry about her place in her social circle. Such feelings can cause stress and hurt her self-esteem.
Social media also pushes teens to compare themselves to others. These comparisons are often with unrealistic standards because people usually share only the good parts of their lives online. Trying to keep up can lead to feeling unhappy and stressed.

Setting limits on how long teens use devices and making sure they take regular breaks can help prevent FOMO, cyberbullying, and game addiction. It's also important to keep the lines of communication open; teens should feel safe talking about their online experiences and any issues they encounter.
